Orange & Elderberry Kombucha Jellies
Kombucha is a fermented drink made from sweetened tea and a specific culture known as a scoby. Scoby stands for ‘symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeasts’. The bacteria and yeasts convert the sugar into ethanol and acetic acid. The acetic acid is what gives kombucha its distinctive sour taste.

If you remember the other day I shared with you all the ‘Blooming’ process that happens once you add the gelatine to the fizzy kombucha...which still fascinates me. This is all part of the process to create these fruity, tasty jellies for all the family.
Not only is Kombucha really tasty in drinks & jellies but one of the better sweet treat to have. Just like Water, Milk Kefir....the process in which it is created....(fermentation) to me is quite amazing.
Now! you can make kombucha or take your kombucha either by purchasing it already made in a can which you can purchase at your nearest supermarket OR do it the traditional way by fermenting it yourself. If you have ever seen a live culture (Kombucha) it looks quite gross and you probably wouldn’t try it.
However, Kombucha made correctly is really delicious. It’s lightly effervescent, sweetened black or green tea drink commonly consumed for its supposed health benefits.
These also make great gut healing for our kiddies...these have been made easy to take with our little ones because they are very easy on the eye, in fun shapes and made in delicious flavours.
I decided to make Orange & Elderberry flavours to start. Orange is always a WINNER for everyone and Elderberry because you are getting the benefits of what Elderberry Syrup brings you plus the Kombucha too...GENIUS!
I know I keep mentioning the kiddies but these are such a great way of giving our little ones a sweet treat! Definitely a great pack lunch treat.
I have now purchased my own Kombucha Set and very excited to play with my own ‘Scoby!’
I will keep you updated with my progress...
