The word ‘Hijama’ is derived from the Arabic word ‘Hajm’ - which means ‘sucking’.
The term ‘Cupping Therapy’ on its own, could possibly refer to any different types of treatment. Cupping is the process of applying cups of some kind, to various points on the body and removing the air inside the cups to form a vacuum.
However ‘Hijama’ refers to only one particular type of cupping therapy - which in English is known as ‘wet cupping’ or ‘bleeding cupping’. In which a surgical instrument is used to scrape the skin and the vacuum cup is then applied to collect the blood. It is the oldest, most frequently used and often the moist effective method of cupping.
If you research this type of cupping, you will notice the amount of athletes, body builders use this method of cupping to support their sport.
Reading this post, for some of you the very mention of the word ‘Blood’, puts you into a spin. However, from personal experience I was pleasantly surprised how gentle the procedure was. I can’t tell you how much I was dreading taking part myself even though I knew the benefits, I just didn’t like the idea of blood being drawn. So one Jesse to another…..it is NOT painful!
The only interaction you MAY of had with magnetics is fridge magnets or the toy ones that are fun to play with. However, the types of magnetics used in this type of therapy is very different and much more powerful according to what symptoms you are trying to relieve.
Magnetic therapy is an alternative medical practice that uses static (i.e. unmoving) magnets to alleviate pain and other health concerns. There is therapeutic magnets that you can purchased which are often integratedinto bracelets, rings, or shoe inserts, though therapeutic magnetic mattresses and clothing are also on the market.
Those who use magnet therapy believe that interactions between the body, the earth and other electromagnetic fields have the potential to cause physical and emotional changes in the human body. They also believe that the body’s electromagnetic field must be in balance in order to maintain good health.
This is completely non-invasion treatment, plus it has no negative side effects or complications when combined with conventional medical treatment, which makes it a wonderful complementary and alternative treatment.
